A stainless steel double helix or fingers crossed sculpture located outside of the main entrance to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, by the sculptor Richard Thornton in 2013. The piece celebrates the coming together of all the previous hospitals in Birmingham onto the new site in Edgbaston.

To The Future - details
The abstract sculpture titled "To The Future" is close to the main entrance of the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham in Edgbaston.
Richard Thornton created the sculture in 2013 and it represents a double helix structure of DNA in polished stainless steel.
The piece celebrates the coming together of previous Birmingham hospitals onto the new site in Edgbaston.

Some people refer to the sculptured as being "fingers crossed" which is apt for a lot of visitors and patients to the hospital.
It is 8.5M tall and the design takes advantage of the perspective of those viewing from the upper floors of the building.
